Hardin-Simmons University’s Career Services Office has a semester full of events planned to help students prepare for success beyond the classroom.

A Career Services part-time job fair took place early in the semester, allowing students to connect with potential employment opportunities around town. Also early in the semester, “Strengths Quest” sessions helped students discover talents and skills helpful for current and future employment.

“It was a great opportunity having the chance to speak with experienced employees from different work fields,” said Justin Fry, a senior criminal justice major.

Additionally, Career Services also sponsored “What’s In a Major?” sessions, allowing students an in depth look at all various majors within the Holland School of Sciences and Mathmatics, the Irvin School of Education, the College of Fine Arts, the Kelly College of Business, the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing, and the Logsdon School of Theology.

“We want to set students up for success,” said Wendy Smith, Director of Career Services. According to Smith, these myriad events benefit the students in helping them determine and develop their sense of calling.

As the semester continues, Career Services is offering a event introducing students to LinkedIn on November 3, an Etiquette Dinner for seniors on November 5, and a Job and Internship Search Strategies session on December 1.

The Career Services webpage has added a new Job Board feature allowing students to look at upcoming events, search jobs and internships.
